About Our Rugby Programme

Our Rugby section at Hunslet ARLFC is a well-established and highly successful part of the club, with a rich history in Hunslet of developing players and teams for decades. We offer rugby sessions for all abilities, from beginners learning the basics to experienced players aiming to refine their skills and game understanding.

We provide clear pathways for progression, guiding players from development sessions into our competitive teams. Many of our players have gone on to achieve success in local, regional, and national competitions, reflecting the strength and tradition of rugby at Hunslet.

Sessions focus on skill development, teamwork, fitness, and enjoyment, all delivered in a safe and inclusive environment. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to compete at a higher level, Hunslet ARLFC offers the structure, coaching, and community support to help them reach their potential.

Qualified Coaching

All our coaches are Rugby League qualified and DBS-checked, ensuring a safe and professional environment for all players. We've recently added coaches who specialize in developing younger children, providing age-appropriate sessions that make learning rugby fun.

Skills Development

Our rugby programme helps young athletes develop crucial life skills alongside rugby abilities:

• Social skills - Working as part of a team
• Agility - Quick footwork and movement
• Strength - Building physical fitness
• Balance - Core stability and control
• Coordination - Hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness

Age Groups

We run sessions for multiple age groups, allowing players to develop with peers at a similar stage. From our tiny tots sessions introducing basic ball skills, through to competitive youth teams and open age rugby, there's a pathway for everyone.

Girls' Rugby

Girls' rugby at Hunslet ARLFC x The Hunslet Club is growing fast, led by Sinead Peach, a Hunslet-born Super League star and Woman of Steel. Passionate about the game and the community she comes from, Sinead is determined to build a strong and inclusive girls' rugby section, creating more opportunities for young players to get involved and thrive.

Our sessions are designed to be welcoming, fun, and supportive, whether you're completely new to rugby or already have experience. Players can develop their skills, build confidence, and be part of a team environment that encourages effort, respect, and enjoyment.

This is an exciting time to be part of girls' rugby at The Hunslet Club, with real opportunities to grow, learn, and be inspired by one of the game's best.
